Pressing Matters
21 - 26 November 2011 | The Gallery, Spring House
This exhibition acts as a catalyst for a series of shows that will explore the techniques and craftsmanship that happen in the design, art and media studios of The Cass and ASD. The forthcoming series of shows will seek to reveal and highlight ways of making and encourage discussions about the possibilities for cross-disciplinary thinking.
*
Print makers Lucy Philips and Sarah Knight who are both alumni of The Cass have been invited to curate a show of their work as well as selected pieces that reveal different methods of print making – such as collagraph, etching, lino and woodcut and monoprint.

Lucy Phillips seeks to reveal the falsehoods that nostalgia, time and space create within our memories. She incorporates screenprinting in to most of her practice, to produce work that often sits outside the traditional format of printing. After completing a degree in Theology at Oxford University, Lucy returned to art, taking a Foundation Diploma at the City Lit in London, before gaining a first class degree in Fine Art from London Metropolitan University. She lives and works in London. www.lucy-phillips.com
Sarah Knight’s art is one of narratives. She explores the modern world with a mix of romance for past glories and cynicism, to produce work in a range of media including painting, printmaking, drawing and installation. She recently graduated from London Metropolitan University with a first class degree in Fine Art. She lives and works in London. www.sarahjfineart.co.uk
