Aldgate Series 2:
Holly Lewis and Lucinda Rogers
Tuesday 6 December 2011, 6:30pm, The Forum, Spring House
A series of lectures with presentations made by those who can offer an insight into the area of Aldgate and its urban and creative context, as well as the ongoing regeneration of the area.
Holly Lewis: We Made That
The Unlimited Edition is a super-local newspaper focused purely on High Street 2012; the strand of London that runs from Aldgate to Stratford. To date, issues of the paper have focused on the themes of ‘Survey’, ‘Speculation’ and ‘Proposition’, with guest forewords from David Knight and Eleanor Fawcett, and articles from a range of contributors including Sam Jacob, Wouter Vanstiphout, Publica, The Gentle Author and Tom Hunter. Together they have revealed surprising aspects of the existing and explored enjoyable opportunities for the high street.
Holly Lewis is a partner at We Made That, an architecture and design studio concerned with a broad range of different disciplinary and cultural contexts – with a focus on the public realm.
Lucinda Rogers: Dictionary of Urbanism
Lucinda Rogers is an artist and illustrator who specialises in drawing the urban environment of cities, including specifically in the East End where she lives. Her work involves close observation of the subject and takes place on location: drawing directly from life, not in a studio.
During her career Lucinda has produced illustrations for an array of clients including the New Yorker, The Guardian, The Times, Habitat, and the V&A; as well as her long-running series of illustrations for the Independent’s column ‘The Weasel’.
